LIVE! is passionate about getting you active not just its activewear! If we can get you moving whilst looking fashionable then we really have done our job. This festive season we invited our LIVE! Tribe to come PLAY! with us at Queens skate-dine-bowl in Notting Hill London.
What spells Christmas more than ice-rinks whether indoor or outdoors, the crisp smell of the freeze & the cool sensation as you step onto the ice immediately transports you into a winter wonderland. However we weren't at Queens to ice-skate we were there to be schooled in the art of curling. Recently a whole host of celebs have been trying their hand at this olympic sport including P.Diddy.
For 87 years this iconic London venue has hosted athletes & was the first ice-rink to be used by the BBC to televise ice skating, so this 1930s dame has seen a lot of action. Londoners have been enjoying this fun dining experience with Meatliquor at Queens & now it was our LIVE! tribes turn.
As the squad arrived to the sound of bubbles being popped we were reunited with some of our favourite faces that have just been a joy to be part of our LIVE! tribe this last year. One thing we have learnt with the ladies of fitness is that they eat & regularly; so we ensured we were not faced with any “hangry” moments by enlisting the help of Meat liquor who so kindly adapted their menu to suit the dietary needs of our guests.
The cordoned off area was transformed into a little winter grotto with huge viewing windows so we could check some of the on ice action. Our own in house elves lent a hand to prepare the event including personalised gifts & goodies from the BigBottle co, Brave food & heavenly scents from BAO filled the LIVE! gift boxes that were piled from floor to ceiling.
After feasting we donned shoe clips to ensure we didn’t perform a rendition of bambi on ice as we entered the rink. Our Sliders instructors laid out the curling rules & gave hints & tips to ensure the stones glided nicely into the house (rings). Teams competitively got into sliding their rocks from one end of the curling sheet to the other.
The movement during curling is somewhere between a lunge and a superman so strong quads and flexible hips is a benefit. Tessa’s (@londonpaleogirl) time at boot camp Pilates definitely served her well. Just keeping the stones from juddering along the ice is a skill set in itself & when the stone knocks your opponents rock off the winning position celebratory dancing is a must! Thanks Becki (@beckirabin) for bringing your smooth moves to the party.
With a few cold noses but a sense that we had survived the ice & armed with new curling skills the group headed to the grotto where we were showcasing our Spring looks. A vast array of foliage & jungle leaf print jackets & leggings, set to be superstars of the athleisure & sports luxe looks for 2018.
